Michael Welch

Mr. Michael Welch is the General Manager of Lundin Mining Corporation’s Eagle Mine. He joined Eagle in January of 2014 and has been integral in setting the culture and direction of the business.
Mike has more than 25 years of exposure in the mining industry-from grassroots exploration to steady state operations in some of the harshest geographical climates.
Prior to coming to Eagle he was the Vice President for Xstrat’s Raglan operation-a large nickel mine- in Northern Quebec. Raglan is situated in sub-arctic conditions and faces similar challenges and opportunities to Eagle Mine.
Mike received a Master of Science in Geology from Laurentian University, a Master’s Certificate in Project Management from York University and a Business Certificate from London School of Business.
When he’s note overseeing the operation at Eagle he relishes time spent with his wife Carol and their three children, riding motorcycles, enjoying the outdoors and perfecting his tinsmithing.
