Richard (Rich) F. Vander Veen, III strives to utilize his experience as President and co-founder of Mackinaw Power to develop, finance, construct and operate new, state-of-the-art, commercial wind power projects that deliver solid value to shareholders and the communities served.
Vander Veen has thirty years of experience founding and building enterprises and coalitions that combine people skills with innovative applications of business, environmental and energy policies. These include:
* Mackinaw Power: Vander Veen is currently developing more than 500megawatts of commercial wind power in Great Lakes states. He led the teamthat developed and financed the Great Lakes’ first privately ownedcommercial wind power project. The Mackinaw City Wind Project achievedcommercial operation December 3, 2001 - on time, on budget. Vander Veen was elected Interim MSEC President, working to pass the Michigan Renewable Energy Standard legislation Wind Resource: He founded Wind Resource which is developing a 200 MW Wind Farm in Gratiot and Saginaw Counties, Michigan and has received the “2007 Midwest Regional Wind Advocacy Award” from the National Renewable Energy Laboratory Windpowering America Summit held with the American Wind Energy Association annual meeting in Los Angeles. He assisted Michigan Association of Non-Public Schools in developing and implementing its “Eleven Step Road Map to Reduce Utility Costs.”
Rich has done a lot of pro bono work and continues to lecture and serve as a guest speaker across the United States.
